This style of canteen was introduced to the US Army in 1961 and designated the M-1961 Canteen.  It became the standard issue water bottle in 1962 and was widly used by many military forces around the world.

This 1Qt POLY BOTTLE is for WATER USE ONLY. Do not apply the canteen to an open flame or burner plates. The bottle has a groove In the back to make it easier to handle.
