St George’s cross embroidered patch
The flag of St George or flag of England is the central element in Britain’s Union Jack.
In the late middle ages, soldiers without livery would march in a white surcoat with the Cross of St George as their emblem or, if they had a livery, the cross would appear on an armband, with St George being the military saint and Crusader. Since the early modern period, his flag came to be identified as the national flag of England.
